More than 32,000 people participated in the annual Royal Children’s Hospital Fundraiser, Run for the Kids last Sunday 22 March. And I’m proud to say that 12 of those runners were from I Want Fitness Women’s Bootcamp.
Some of us ran, some of us jogged, some of us jawked (JOG + WALK), but ALL of us did it. Together, we put on our #VivaNondas team t-shirt, our crazy tutus and our runners and we gave it a ‘red hot go’. The personal race time didn’t matter. It wasn’t that kind of race. When each of us crossed over the finish line, there was a fellow Viva Nondas team member there with a smile, a high five, and a smartphone at the ready for the selfie.
Sometimes exercise is about pushing yourself, meeting your goals, reaching a target. And sometimes it’s about more than that – it’s about showing your support for friends who have experienced great tragedy – the loss of a child – holding them up any way we know how. By showing up, by raising money, by being there alongside them. We stick together and support each other at I Want Fitness. You can’t do it alone. Sometimes, it takes a village.
